Stay Productive with an Instrumental Playlist

Stay Productive with an Instrumental Playlist

Bill Gates. Warren Buffet. Steve Jobs. What do these people have in common? Successful folks like these have regularly cited “focus” as a main trait in their success.

Louder Than Bombs
If your office is noisy, inquire as to whether over-ear headphones are acceptable to help block out distractions.

Random Access Memories
Avoid albums with lyrics because they’ll sidetrack you. Build a library of instrumental music that can be played randomly and at a low volume to help move you forward with purpose.

Enjoy the Silence
Your eardrums were perfect the day you were born. From that day forward they began deteriorating. We only have one set of ears, so don’t overwork them. Temper the volume and take breaks away from sound altogether, several times each day.

Consider adding some of these (mostly) instrumental albums to your productivity playlist:

Selected Ambient Works, Vol 2 – Aphex Twin
Tri Repetae++ – Autechre
The In Sound From Way Out – Beastie Boys
Touched – Blondes

Tomorrow’s Harvest – Boards of Canada
Instrmntl – Dabrye
Copia – Eluvium
Hold Me to This – Christopher O’Riley
This Bliss – Pantha du Prince
Pause – Four Tet
76:14 – Global Communication
55:12 – Gregor Samsa
Carousel – Robin Guthrie
Haywire Soundtrack – David Holmes
E Luxo So – Labradford
The 5th Exotic – Quantic
Quique – Seefeel
It’s All Around You – Tortoise
